UFO Day

"Human beings are under the control of a strange force that bends them in absurd ways, forcing them to play a role in a bizarre game of deception."

~Jacques Vallée, Messengers of Deception, 1979

As we continue into our brave new world with as much tartan style and critical discernment as is possible to muster in troubling times, get ready because it's UFO/UAP sighting season! Lock up the cows, stock up on documented alien-favourite strawberry ice cream, and get ready for more sightings and bizarre requests to “take me to your kilted leader!”

In 2025, the UAP (Unidentified Aerial Phenomena) conversation has surged once again, hotter than ever. Following last year’s explosive whistleblower testimony and document releases, this year has brought even more revelations. Congressional hearings have expanded, former intelligence officials are speaking more freely, and previously classified programs are now being publicly acknowledged. The conversation, once the domain of fringe theorists, now regularly appears in mainstream media, policy discussions, and defense briefings.

What once seemed like science fiction is now a very real—and very strange—part of public discourse. Are we witnessing the slow disclosure of extraterrestrial life? The emergence of hidden Earth-bound “crypto-terrestrials”? A slip between parallel worlds? Or is this all part of a grand deception, a cultural Psy Op meant to shift perception on a massive scale?

Two key summer dates remain sacred in the ufology calendar. June 24 marks the anniversary of Kenneth Arnold’s 1947 sighting of nine disk-like objects over Mount Rainier—the event that birthed the phrase “flying saucers.” And July 2 commemorates the alleged Roswell crash, long claimed to involve alien craft, later explained as a balloon from Project Mogul, and still hotly debated to this day.

As we ponder disclosure and deception, let’s not forget fashion. Alleged alien species—Greys, Nordics, Reptilians, Flatwoods monsters, and even Kentucky’s Hopkinsville goblins—all share one common trait: a flattering symmetry that practically begs for highland couture. Enter this extraterrestrial-approved tartan, designed to harmonize with every hue in the galactic guidebook. Whether your eyes are jet-black and soulless or your skin has that classic lizard sheen, this tartan is your cosmic closet staple—equally suitable for abduction or afternoon tea. 🖤 🤍 💛 🖤 👽 👽 👽 🛸 🛸 🛸

World UFO Day is celebrated by some on June 24, and others on July 2.  June 24, 1947 is the date that aviator Kenneth Arnold reported what is generally considered to be the first widely reported unidentified flying object sighting in the United States, in  while July 2 commemorates the supposed UFO crash in the 1947 Roswell UFO Incident.

The stated goal of the July 2 celebration is to raise awareness of "the undoubted existence of UFOs" and to encourage governments to declassify their files on UFO sightings.

The acronym "UFO" was coined in 1953 by Captain Edward J. Ruppelt, who headed Project Blue Book, the United States Air Force's official investigation of UFOs. He wrote, "Obviously the term 'flying saucer' is misleading when applied to objects of every conceivable shape and performance. For this reason the military prefers the more general, if less colorful, name: unidentified flying objects. UFO (pronounced Yoo-foe) for short."

Other phrases that were used officially and that predate the UFO acronym include "flying flapjack", "flying disc", "unexplained flying discs", and "unidentifiable object."

Studies have established that the majority of UFO observations are misidentified conventional objects or naturalphenomena—most commonly aircraft, balloons, noctilucent cloudsnacreous clouds, or astronomical objects such as meteors or bright planets with a small percentage even being hoaxes.

Early in 2019, newly declassified documents from the US Pentagon reveal the Department of Defense funded projects that investigated UFOs, wormholes, alternate dimensions and a host of other subjects that are often the topics of conspiracy theorists.

The Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) released 38 research titles following a Freedom of Information Act request from Steven Aftergood, director of the Federation of American Scientists’ Project on Government Secrecy. The research was funded by the Department of Defense under its Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP).   Some of the more interesting projects include Invisibility Cloaking; Traversable Wormholes, Stargates, and Negative Energy; Warp Drive, Dark Energy, and the Manipulation of Extra Dimensions; and An Introduction to the Statistical Drake Equation.

Fascination with alien sightings, UFOs, and abductions cross all borders and have alleged hot spots of activity.

Gorebridge, Scotland, close to Edinburgh, is one such area for concentrated UFO sightings. For more information and details of the famous 1979 Robert Taylor incident, click the UFO cluster of flying saucers.
