Hogwarts Day
“Words are, in my not-so-humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic.”
~ Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, J.K. Rowling, 2007
Hogwart's Headmaster has such perspicacity. And now he has his own tartan!
If you’re a fan of the Harry Potter book and film series, there’s now a set of magical tartans inspired by the wizarding world! May 2nd is widely recognized—based on the series timeline and later confirmed by J. K. Rowling—as the day the Battle of Hogwarts ended in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
The series follows Harry Potter, a boy who discovers he is a wizard and is drawn into a hidden magical world centered around Hogwarts School. Across seven books, the story moves from school adventures into a larger conflict with dark forces, blending friendship, loss, and a good deal of British boarding-school life along the way. The novels were later adapted into a widely successful film series that brought the settings and characters to a global audience, with performances and visuals that have become closely tied to how many readers now imagine the story.
This tartan takes its inspiration from Albus Dumbledore! In the books, Dumbledore is a quietly commanding presence—headmaster of Hogwarts, a formidable wizard, and a steady guide to Harry. He is thoughtful and measured, often speaking in a calm, reflective way, with a habit of offering insight rather than instruction. As Headmaster of Hogwarts, Dumbledore is portrayed as thoughtful, composed, and quietly formidable—one of the most powerful wizards of his age!
Colours chosen are: White, as a nod to “Albus” (Latin for white) and to his well-known hair and beard. Light grey reflects his half-moon spectacles and the silver details he favors—rings, chains, even the small ornaments in his beard. Gold and blue point back to Hogwarts—its symbolism and fittings—while the darker grey suggests the rich velvet robes and hat he’s often described wearing. Mischief - and tartans - managed! 🖤 🤎 🤍 💛 💙 🧙 🪄 🌟 🌟 🌟
