Ravenclaw Pride Day

"Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
If you've a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind."

~ The Sorting Hat, J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

From the Harry Potter Universe, today is set aside for all those who identify with House Ravenclaw!  Here is one of four unofficial whimsical tartans designed for the four houses of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Designed by Dan Shackelford, all of the house tartans use a grey and black background representing Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. From the designer:

"Ravenclaw is one of the four houses of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the Harry Potter novels and movies. Their house colors are blue and bronze, their element is air and their animal is an eagle."

Ravenclaw values intelligence, creativity, learning, and wit. The house mascot is an eagle and the house colours are blue and bronze (blue and grey in the films). The head of this house is the Charms professor, Filius Flitwick, and the house ghost is The Grey Lady. According to Rowling, Ravenclaw corresponds roughly to the element of air. The founder of this house is Rowena Ravenclaw.
