This tartan is intended to honour all those US personnel who have served. The colours include elements with personal significance for the designer along with elements intended to acknowledge all branches of the US Military, with colours that can be found in each of their Service or Combat Uniforms. The red stripe is intended to acknowledge the sacrifice of those members who gave all. 💙 💚 ❤️ 🤍 🇺🇸

This tartan was inspired by the people who work on the front line, and the design and colours are intended to represent all military, law enforcement, firefighters and first responders who have lost their lives. 💚 💙 ❤️ 💛 🖤 🎗️

One of a series of US Military Tartans woven exclusively by the Strathmore Woollen Co. Ltd. The Tartan was designed by Arthur Mackie, former mill manager, in co-operation with Lieutenant Lee Josselyn who served with a detachment of SeaBees at RAF Edzell in Scotland in the early 1990's. Lee Josselyn's enthusiasm introduced the concept of wearing tartan to many US servicemen and their families connected with the SeaBees. The Tartan is made up of the following colour combinations which reflect the SeaBee code of conduct: Dark Blue Stripe - 'The Navy we proudly serve'; Light Blue Stripe - 'The Oceans we've crossed'; Brown Stripe - 'The Mountains we've moved'; Red Stripe - 'The Blood nobly shed'; Yellow Cross check - 'The Twinkle in the every SeaBees eye'. It should be noted that this tartan has no formal US Military recognition, but through common usage has become widely accepted as a representative design.

The Space Force Veterans Tartan organization was created to honour Space Force Veterans and family members. The design is intended to represent the journey, equipment, signals and data involved in space travel. Colours: green is intended to represent the plant life of our planet and is a nod to the Army Air Corps; blue represents the oceans and sky; white represents the clouds; the black of space follows with a small band of white intended to represent stars and orbits of the equipment maintained and operated. The black, grey, and blue are colours that represent the Space Force.

Based on Hamilton tartan in honour of Alexander Hamilton, the first US Secretary of the Treasury and founder of the US Coast Guard, the original blue has been altered to that of modern Coast Guard Blue, symbolic of the seas and skies plied by cutters and aircraft of the Coast Guard as they carry out their missions to serve and protect. Red symbolizes the courage and sacrifice of the men and women of the Coast Guard and its predecessor services, and their families, in war and peace for more than 200 years. And the 10 threads of white are representative of the original 10 Revenue Cutters commissioned by Secretary of the Treasury, Alexander Hamilton in 1790. They were: the Massachusetts, Scammel, Active, Eagle, Diligence, Argus, Vigilant, Virginia, South Carolina and General Greene.

From the U.S. Coast Guard Pipe Band's site: The idea of a tartan for the Coast Guard began in 1997 when JoAnne Pendleton and her Husband, CWO Mike Pendleton, saw the West Point Pipe Band playing at a Scottish festival in New Hampshire. CWO Pendleton remarked, 'Wouldn't it be great if the Coast Guard had a tartan? I'd love that.' JoAnne decided then and there that she would take on the project and the USCG Kilt would be Mike's retirement gift in 1998. While researching as to whether such a Tartan existed, Joanne called the Academy and someone at one of the offices begged her to proceed with the project as pipers at the Academy simply wore whatever kilt they could find. Further research showed that no tartan existed for the U.S. Coast Guard. In April 1999, Joanne went to Admiral James Loy, Commandant of the Coast Guard, with the idea. He strongly endorsed it and thus began the journey to making this idea a reality. Such an undertaking could not be accomplished by one person; many people contributed. One of the largest contributors in making the Coast Guard tartan become a reality was Andrew Anderson, CDR, USCG (Ret). On May 1, 2002, then-Commandant of the Coast Guard, Admiral James Loy, approved the U.S. Coast Guard tartan.

This tartan is one of a series of US Military tartans woven exclusively by the Strathmore Woollen Company of Forfar and adopted by the Band of the Air Force Reserve, Georgia, USA in the early 1990s. Although it has no official US Military recognition, it has been widely accepted by US servicemen and their families with Air Force connections as a representative design. Originating as a new design in 1988, it proved popular with one particular customer and gained an unofficial namesake as 'Lady Jane of St Cirus.' Later, the late Robert Kulyn, a retired master sergeant of the USAF and member of the National Trust of Scotland introduced the tartan to the Band who subsequently adopted it.

Although not officially recognized by the US Army, this tartan is worn by thousands of both active duty, retired, and ex-Army personnel and families. Together with Alexis Malcolm Kilts, the US Army Tartan was designed by Vietnam Vet, Raymond Jones who served with the 11 Armored Cavalry Regiment, the "Blackhorse Regiment" (for the rampant black stallion on the 11th's unit patch). The Blackhorse Cavalry stood guard over the Fulda Pass in Germany for three decades after their service in Viet Nam; these days, it provides the OPFOR (OPposing FORce) troops at the National Training Center in California. The colours of the US Army tartan were chosen to represent the uniforms - black for the beret, khaki for the summer uniform, light green for the original sniper and now part of the summer uniform, dark blue for the original dress uniform, olive for the combat uniform and gold for the cavalry.

This tartan is one of a series of US Military tartans woven by the Strathmore Woollen Company of Forfar (and also Locharron), for the Marine Corps Historical Foundation (although it has no official US Military recognition). Designed in 1986 by Bob Hall of Tallahassee, USA and Ruraidh MacLeod of Auchtermuchty (a member of the Scottish Tartans Society) it is intended for the US Marine Corps, founded on the 10th of November 1775 by an act of the Continental Congress. A brighter color variant of this tartan by the same designers, "Leatherneck" is also woven by the same mills and is the second of two tartans often sold as a "US Marine Corps" tartan.

Though not officially recognized by the US military, this tartan, designed by Arthur Mackie in 1980 and woven by Strathmore Woollens for USN personnel at Edzell radar base in Angus, Scotland, is commonly recognized as a tartan for US Navy personnel.
