The Oklahoma District State Tartan was officially adopted by Oklahoma legislature in 1999. Designed by Oklahoma native Jerrel R. Murray, the colors of red, white, black, and gold on a field of blue are symbolic of the people, agricultural products, manufactured products, and natural resources of Oklahoma.
