Scout's Day

"Do your best!"

~ Cub Scout Motto

The ranks of Cub Scouting in the United States include Bobcat, Tiger Cub, Wolf Cub, Bear Cub, Webelos, and Arrow of Light. "Webelos" stands for "We'll Be Loyal Scouts". For a time early in the Boy Scouts, patrols were not identified by patches on the sleeves, but by colored ribbons pinned to the sleeve. As part of the identification system and as a transition phase from Cub Scouts through to Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts emulated the Boy Scouts by developing a standard set of Webelos colours. Those colors were Gold (for Cub Scouts), Green (for Boy Scouts) and Red (for Senior/Explorer Scouts). These Webelo ribbon colours were eventually incorporated into a plaid Neckerchief from which this tartan is derived. ⚜️

Worldwide in nearly all Scout associations, Founders' Day is celebrated on the 22nd of February, the birthday of Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of Scouting.

The Cub Scouts of America tartan is worn by the "Webelos" rank of Cub Scouts in their neckerchief and hats.

Cub Scouting is part of the Scouting program of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), available to boys and girls from first through fifth grade, or 7 to 11½ years of age and their families. Its membership is the largest of the three BSA divisions (Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting, and Venturing). Cub Scouting is part of the worldwide Scouting movement and aims to promote character development, citizenship training, and personal fitness.
