the 24 Hours of Le Mans Car Race

"Lotta people go through life doing things badly. Racing's important to men who do it well. When you're racing, it's life. Anything that happens before or after is just waiting." ~ Steve McQueen as Michael Delaney, Le Mans (1971)

This tartan was inspired by the annual sports car races in Le Mans, France, and in particular those races that took place during the 1960s.  Le Mans is often called the most grueling race in the world, involving a 24 hour tour through the French countryside.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans (French: 24 Heures du Mans) is the world's oldest active sports car race in endurance racing, held annually since 1923near the town of Le MansFrance.  It is one of the most prestigious automobile races in the world and has been called the "Grand Prix of Endurance and Efficiency".  The event represents one leg of the Triple Crown of Motorsport; other events being the Indianapolis 500 and the Monaco Grand Prix.
